Men vs. Women

Men :

1. All men are extremely busy.
2. Although they are so busy, they still have time for women.
3. Although they have time for women, they don't really care for them.
4. Although they don't really care for them, they always have one around.
5. Although they always have one around them, they always try their luck with others.

Women :

1. The most important thing for a woman is financial security.
2. Although this is so important, they still go out and buy expensive clothes and stuff.
3. Although they always buy expensive clothes, they never have something to wear.
4. Although they never have something to wear, they always dress beautifully.
5. Although they always dress beautifully, their clothes are always just "an old rag".
6. Although their clothes are always "just an old rag", they still expect you to compliment them.
7. Although they expect you to compliment them, when you do, they don't believe you.

Kuwait's Numbers Game

Kuwait is changing numbers...

First they changed the Car Plate numbers.

from

to this:

now they're changing the phone numbers..actually they already did, effective last 17th October:

All COMMERCIAL/SERVICE NUMBERS ( beginning with 8 eg. 801801, 811811) will add "1" before the number., so that will be 1-801-801, 1-811-811 etc.

All landlines will add "2" before the number, eg. 2421234 will be 2-2421234.

All Wataniya ( mobile network) will add "6" to their existing numbers, thats 6-666-1234.

All MTC-Zain ( my mobile network) will add "9" before the number..so my number will now become 9-938xxxx...weeeeeeeee!..

after all, she's being a good ate naman e..

"My Name is Zoë...That's Z, o, and e with the "umlaut" or "two dots, ma'am."

Naming babies is always fun..Ako ang madalas nagiisip ng pangalan ng babies ko..Pero siempre, ang appoval sa mommy hahaha..My eldest daughter is Klydine Gecyrille or Dewi..well.. its a jumbled combination of my name and their mom's..My son is Klyde Bon Czaren or Bon..(klyde to connect it with her ate's name and Czaren as combination of his lolos' names, Cesar and Ente..yung Bon ay pahabol lang kasi pinanganak sya feast day ni St. Bonaventure..alam nyo naman mga elders, dapat sumunod minsan sa santo..)

pagkatapos ng kilo-kilometrong pangalan ng first two kids ko, eto naman ang maiiksi..

Cianna was a unanimous choice..sunod kasi either sa pangalan ko o kaya ni PrinCIe..at connected din kay ANAgaile..

and now comes Zoë..or simply Zoe...

We considered a lot of names prior to this but it kinda stood out from the rest..It has a sweet sound to it..me lambing sa dulo ika nga..the first time I saw my baby, alam ko the name will suit her perfectly..it means "Life" in Greek.

She will have a second name though but that will be decided soon ..I need to register her and make her name official, to get her her own passport, visa etc etc..only then I can announce her full name to the world..

but for now, she will be Zoë..that's how it is supposed to be spelled..

That's Z, o, and e with "umlaut" or "two dots".

Two dots mean two syllables. Zo-wee..

that's what makes it a unique and special name...but we might..no, WE WILL settle for the simple spelling..to avoid complications in the future..you know how "complicated" typists, registrars and who else, can be..Imagine my daughter always saying "My Name is Zoe...That's Z, o, and e with the "umlaut" or "two dots, ma'am."

I, myself, have to constantly correct my name, the spelling, the pronunciation, the gender..yes, countless times, somebody will call my name sa mga pila sa school o sa mga public offices with a MISS as in MISS CYRIL..and then later give me that puzzled look na " ay lalaki pala"...even during my college days nung literary writer at cartoonist ako for our school paper..di lang iilan yung nagtanong sa Editor-in-Chief namin kung babae daw ba ako..sus me..

anyway..

ZOE it will be..spelled without the dots but pronounced as how it should be..

Zoe at birth

Zoe at birth

Blogging from the hospital Sept.1.2008

The stork is on her way.oh yes..
August 31 , 7:20 PM..I was at home taking a nap when I received a call from my wife..ayun in-advise na daw sya ng doctor nya to deliver kasi mataas na ang BP nya...so paglabas nya from work at 11 pm e diretso na kami sa bahay at nagbihis lang sya..good thing naka-impake na ang bags nilang dalawa ni baby 2 days ago pa kaya dadamputin na lang.

yun muna..mamaya na kasunod pag lumabas na si baby girl named...........? he he he!

I got a ticket..damn!!

I got a ticket driving on a ONE-WAY STREET!..damn...for as long as I can remember, I've been driving on the same street everyday..just a small portion of a street leading to the Expressway.. It used to be a two-way street, but thanks ( or no thanks) to a newly constructed street, they decided to make this one way..

I've been aware of the signs ( NO ENTRY) posted at the beginning of the street but nobody seems to care about that anyway. I am not the only one using that short way out...I used to think the No Entry signs is in effect only during School Days (this is a common practice here) because there's a lot of schools around the area..

But luck is not on my side today..tsk tsk..I was happily driving down the street to the tune of BREATHLESS and lo and behold..as I turn the corner, there it was, a police mobile parked right there, waiting for unsuspecting and clueless drivers like me..I can only shake my head...phew!

Now I have to wait for a week or 10 days to go to the Traffic Dept and pay my penalties, which I just learned, was now raised to a whooping KD 250..Thats around 40 thousand pesos Ladies and Gentlemen...waaaaaaaaaah..............#%%^(^(&()*)(

14 Simple Ways to Convert Your Sedentary Lifestyle

(Written by ispf, dumblittleman.com)

We all know we need to exercise more – our lifestyles are way too sedentary compared to that of the previous generations. It's not all our fault. The days of the 9 to 5 job are long over and despite huge advances in technology, our lives seem to be a lot busier compared than that of previous generations.

Even when I have been motivated to get a gym membership and start exercising, it only lasts for a few months. At the first sign of stress and deadlines at work, the gym routine gets kicked off the list. So here are a few tricks to include some activity in daily habits to take it from a sedentary lifestyle to a mildly active one.

* Park far away: Instinctively, almost all of us look for a spot as close to our destination as possible. Instead get into the habit of parking a block away, or parking at the farthest parking spot. If you are grocery shopping, park in the store's lot but choose the back row. Clearly you wouldn't want to be caught pushing a shopping cart down the street trying to get to your car.

* Take the stairs instead of elevators: If it is one or two floors, always take the stairs. If you need to go up/down several floors then take the stairs to two floors above/below and then take the elevator. As you get used to it, increase the number of floors you use the stairs for. If you park in a level parking lot, always park in one of the higher levels and walk down.

* If possible, walk or bike to work: This is not possible for everyone, but if you live in a place where the pollution is less and your workplace is relatively close by, then choose to walk or bike instead of driving.

* Skip the stop: If your city has a subway or bus system, skip your stop and get off at the one after (or before) and then walk from there. You'll get to enjoy the air and neighborhood a little while increasing your heart rate.

* Maximize the benefits from your grocery trip: When you go to the grocery store, make it a habit to walk the entire store. Go through every aisle and every nook and corner. Avoid the aisles that could tempt you to pick up junk food though, since that can completely obliterate any benefits of walking a few extra steps! NOTE: if you have a spending problem don't do this.

* Take a short walk-break at work: Again this one depends on your work location, but ours is located outside the city and is on large private grounds. Every afternoon a couple of us go for a short walk (~1 mile round trip) which takes roughly 15-20 minutes. It is very invigorating and a nice break from the afternoon routine.

* Do your own yard work: This is a good one for summer time when the lawn starts to grow and you need to keep it trimmed. Instead of hiring someone to do it for you, do it yourself. You will not only get some exercise, but save some money too!

* Play with your kids: Kids these days seem to play more video games than outdoor games like we did when we were younger. So take your kids out to the park and throw the ball around, play tag, etc.

* Put on your favorite music and dance: This is not only exercise, but also a great way to unwind at the end of a busy day. And a good trip down the memory lane for those of us who have not done it in a long time!

* While watching TV, pace or stretch: Instead of switching channels during the ad break get up and walk about the house. Do some lunges or some simple stretching exercises. If you have stairs in your house, walk up and down the stairs a few times, during each ad break for at least one show every day.

* Choose to walk down instead of call or email: When you have a question for a colleague, instead of picking up the phone or shooting an email, walk over to their cube. This will not only provide some exercise but a short break for a quick recharge.

* Walk while you talk on the phone: If your job involves talking on the phone a lot, then instead of doing this sitting at your desk, get into the habit of pacing while you talk. Motion creates emotion so you may even become a better speaker by doing this.

* Choose active entertainment over passive entertainment: Instead of going for a movie, choose to go play tennis with some friends (or at least bowling). Instead of playing regular video games, play with a Wii. Instead of meeting friends for a cup of coffee, catch up over a sunset walk.

* Choose active vacations: While planning vacations, pick something that involves some walking and hiking. While taking in a new city, do it by walk, instead of driving around. If golfing, skip the cart. If staying at a resort, make use of their pool and the exercise facility. Try skiing and white water rafting

I am BAd father..I mean, really BAD!

Me sakit si Cianna for the past 2 days na..una sipon lang then naging ubo na nauwi sa lagnat pero nawawala din naman pag nag-take ng gamot..pero siempre just to be sure, nag decide kami pa -check up kahapon just in case kelangan ng antibiotic.

Everything Happens for a Reason

credits to the original writer:

Sometimes people come into your life
and you know right away that
they were meant to be there...
to serve some sort of purpose, teach you
a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be,
but when you lock eyes with
them, you know that very moment
that they will affect your life in some
profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you
at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair,
but in reflection you realize
that without overcoming those obstacles
you would have never realized
your potential, strength, will power or heart.

Everything Happens For A Reason
Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck.
Illness injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity
all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests
life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.
Safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet affect your life.....
The successes and downfalls that you experience can create who you are,
and the bad experiences can be learned from.
In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones. If
someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them
because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance
of being cautious to whom you open your heart to. If someone loves
you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you
but because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes
to little things.

Make every day count.......
Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly
can, for you may never be able to experience it again.
Talk to people you have never talked to
before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free and set
your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to.
Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself,
for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you.
Create your own life and then go out and live it.

Isang araw, walang magawa..

It was one of those very rare days.. nandito ako sa desk ko, staring blankly at my monitor..walang magawa kahit alam ko may research akong dapat tapusin.

shitee..Daboy as in Rudy Fernandez?!..natalo rin ng kanser tsk tsk.bigla lalo ako nanamlay..

Cianna's Little Mind

My little princess is now officially a preschooler..yes she is..

Today is her first day at a her nursery..Matagal na namin
actually plan na i-enrol sya sa isang preschool so she can socialize
with other kids her age and let her be prepared for next year when the
ACTUAL schooling starts.

Since yesterday when she learned that she will be attending her
first day today, makulit na excited..."cianna go school" daw..paulit
ulit..And so today, ginising ko sya ng bandang 7:30 am and told her its
time to go..excited naman na naligo, nagbihis and all..Then I took her
to the nursery just a few blocks
from ours..Siempre kelangan ko din munang mag-stay konti to help her
familiarize with the new faces..nung dumating kami meron lang siguro 4-5 kids..Indian..kahit yung nanny/teacher Indian din pero ok lang para ma-expose siya sa English
conversations..ramdam ko nahihiya/naiilang pa yung bata, usual first

The place is Ok naman...its actually an apartment converted to a neighborhood day-care/babysitting/playschool..Its good enough for a small group of preschooler..

And
there she goes..Cianna is this little girl in front..nung makita nya
just kissed her and said Im going to the office..she replied OK sige
then goes back to play..

Pagdating ko sa office, I called her
nanny/teacher to check on her..I asked if Cianna cried when I
left...She said no she's still playing..

Ok, I think she will be fine....Bata nga naman.

Dream Jobs

napulot ko na naman sa web ( credits to the writer)...ang sarap talaga nung gusto mo na nga yung ginagawa mo, kumikita ka pa...

A Dream Career Come True

By Clare Kaufman

Do what you love, as the saying goes, and the money will follow. But is it really possible to get paid to play? Believe it or not, with the right education and career training, you can work at the job you've always dreamed of. After all, if you find a job you love, work will always be fun!

Here's a look at some of the coolest jobs around, and how you can land one yourself.

1. Chocolate Taster

Yes, your business card could read 'Professional Chocolate Taster" or "Freelance Consultant in the Chocolate Field." Chocolate tasters help chocolate makers develop new flavors, ensure quality, and perform market research.

Extensive chocolate-tasting experience alone won't land you this dream job. Tasters recommend culinary school or pastry chef training, with an emphasis in business courses such as marketing and product development.

2. E-Commerce Entrepreneur

From photography to pet grooming, you can turn just about any hobby into a home business. E-commerce entrepreneurs sell products, services, and/or advertising space via a website "storefront."As an e-commerce entrepreneur, you have access to the ultimate market for any hobby--the world. An online marketing degree will help you find that market, and make a name for your business in cyberspace.

3. Fashion Buyer

You love to shop... why not get paid for it? Fashion buyers make their living attending fashion shows, spotting trends, and buying clothing that sells.

Besides an eye for fashion, buyers typically have a fashion merchandising degree. Fashion schools offer courses in fashion design and industry trends, as well as business skills such as budgeting, inventory management, and negotiation.

4. Video Game Designer

All those hours spent playing video games can pay off--and pay well--in a video game design career. Video game designers are involved at every stage of a game's development, from concept to layout to programming.

Graphic design college offers the technical background you'll need to get into this cool career, including video game design courses in animation and 2D and 3D graphics.

5. Wardrobe Stylist

Stars aren't just born with glamour, their wardrobe stylists create it for them. Wardrobe stylists are image consultants with a fashion sense. They create the look that makes a celebrity shine on stage, on the red carpet, at photo shoots, or around town.

Fashion design school can help you launch a career as a wardrobe stylist. Besides gaining a valuable credential, you'll make contacts in a business where networking is everything.

6. Movie Animator

A movie animator brings animated characters and fictional worlds to life using computer graphics technology. Industry pioneers Pixar and ILM have elevated movie animation to an art form, with applications that simulate facial expressions, natural textures, and movement.

A career in movie animation begins with graphic arts training via an animation degree. Online graphic design courses for movie animators range from software programming to film production.

7. Sports Psychologist

"The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure," said legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi. As a sports psychologist, you could put this advice to work helping athletes achieve their full potential through psychological counseling.

An online master degree in psychology can get you started in sports psychology. Many psychology schools offer sports-related courses such as motivation management and athletics counseling.

8. Sports Massage Therapist

Another crucial player in an athlete's support team is the sports massage therapist. Sports massage provides an extra edge for athletes, preventing injuries and keeping muscles in optimum condition.

Massage therapy schools offer hands-on practice and training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, body mechanics, and basic business skills. Following massage therapy school, graduates take the national certification exam.

9. Sports Marketer

Sports fans know better than anyone how to inspire enthusiasm for the game. Those buzz-generating skills can lead to a career in sports marketing, promoting and managing athletes, teams, or sports events.

Besides a passion for sports, sports marketers must earn at least a bachelor's degree inmarketing, sports management, or business administration. For a real resume boost, consider an online MBA in sports marketing.

10. NASCAR Mechanic

The ultimate auto mechanic career can be found in the NASCAR pit stop. NASCAR mechanics are an integral part of the race team, ensuring that the vehicle operates at peak performance.

The ability to do lightning speed maintenance on a racecar does not develop through sheer enthusiasm for the sport. NASCAR mechanics rely on specialized technician training in everything from basic automotive maintenance to fabricating and welding.

The best jobs are those that pay you to do what you would otherwise do for free. But the path from hobby to career is not always straightforward. You may come across your ideal job, or invent the position that fits your passions perfectly. Whichever course you choose, education and career training can bring you one step closer to a job you love

5 Causes of Rapid Aging

by Dr. Maoshing Ni

Most people are aware that negative lifestyle habits like smoking and excessive alcohol can lead to rapid aging. But what about the repeated stress and poor nutrition that are so often a part of a high-pressure style of living today? Read on to see what could be causing rapid aging in your life.

1. Poor Diet
What you eat probably affects your health more than anything else you do. When you eat a poor diet—fatty, processed, or fried foods and simple sugars—you invite rapid aging by burdening your body with chemical additives and trans-fats and depriving your body of essential nutrients. On the other hand, when you eat the life-giving foods, you prevent disease and improve organ functioning.

In general, your diet should consist of a wide array of colors and balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Numerous studies show that the different pigments in the skins of fruits and vegetables are powerful antioxidants that are crucial for maintaining health, preventing cancer, and protecting against environmental toxins.

Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods. Keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Take candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars out of your diet. Excess sugar gets stored as fat in your body, which spells in weight gain—a sure path to cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes. You truly are what you eat, so eat well!

2. Unhappiness
Unhappiness does not only depress your mood, it also negatively affects your health. In fact, depressed, unhappy people are twice as likely to develop heart disease. And it has been confirmed that personality profile Type C—people that tend towards melancholy, depression, and excessive worry—are prone to develop cancer. Do not underestimate the power of your mind. Your experience is determined by the energy you embody, and in the end, it is your choice to have a negative perception or a positive attitude in reaction to life's breakdowns.

Years ago, I had the pleasure of working with the late Norman Cousins. His research showed that the mind has a powerful influence on many physiological functions, including the immune system. He found that an increase in immune killer cells that attack cancer occurred in cancer patients who experienced 30 minutes of deep belly laughter every day for twelve weeks. Laughter also increases the release of endorphins, compounds that give you a sense of well-being. Undoubtedly, joyful people liver longer and healthier lives.

3. Lack of Exercise
I have never met a healthy person or centenarian that lived a physically inactive life. Exercise is essential for a healthy metabolism, proper energy circulation, and the expelling of cellular wastes. Being overweight and inactive is a surefire path to rapid aging and a host of diseases. Cardiovascular exercise is the key to speeding up your metabolism, burning excess calories, and fighting body fat. Brisk walking, hiking, jogging, swimming, bicycling, stair climbing-the options are endless for cardio health! Exercise for 30 minutes at 60-80% of your MHR (You can find this number by subtracting your age from 220.) Regular exercise is also the key to preventing non-insulin-dependent diabetes, which is the fastest growing disease in industrialized countries throughout the world.

You can stave off rapid aging to your muscles, joints, and tendons by practicing exercises that extend your range of motion; some options include tai chi, qigong and yoga. Check out simple tai chi moves that you can learn easily in my book, Harmony Tai Chi by clicking here. Also, moderate load-bearing exercises are essential for bone density and muscle strength. Don't forget when you are exercising to always warm up and cool down properly to avoid injury.

4. Stress
Stress is a huge byproduct of our busy lives and it takes a tremendous toll on our health. Our body's "survival mode" gets turned on all too often these days. When you are experiencing stress, your body is programmed to go into fight-or-flight mode, a state that requires a lot of energy. Adrenaline is released from the adrenal gland, and it tells the body to convert stored sugar from the liver to glucose because the energy needs of the body increase substantially during the supposed fight-or-flight scenario.

Unfortnately, this scenario almost never plays out and the excess blood sugar that never got used ends up being stored as fat—inevitably resulting in weight gain. What's more, all of this stress continually depletes your body of its energy resources until it crumples under the overload, leading to adrenal exhaustion, a nervous breakdown, or a broken-down immune system.

To stay stress-free, remember to breathe deeply all day. And give yourself a break! You are a human, not a machine. Try taking a 15-minute powernap during your lunch break. If you only have 5 minutes to spare, just closing your eyes will release tension. Better still, consider taking up meditation, a great way to dissolve stress. To learn more about how to use meditation to decrease stress, click here.

5. Lack of Sleep
There's no way around it: the average adult needs seven to eight hours of quality sleep every night to maintain health. Consider that your immune system drops by an average of 60% after just three nights of poor sleep. Without sufficient "recovery time" each night, you will run your body down and wear out your life force, paving the way for disharmony and disease.

I hope you find the ways to live long and live strong! I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.

May you live long, live strong, and live happy!

Itlog mo, Noy..orens!

di ko mapigilang matawa dito sa napulot ko sa Yahoo..(credits to the original source, if you wanna see the REAL article here's the link

I just thought I'd change some words and voila! (hahaha)..My edit and comments on italics...Warning: para lang sa may malawak ang kaisipan heheh..
Which eggs should you be eating?

( sa Tagalog, anong itlog ang masarap kainin?)

Brown or white?
In actuality, color is simply an indication of the breed of MEN. Find the freshest  EGG with the most flavor and let color be a secondary concern.

- brown ( pinoy?) or white (kano o puti?) nyahaha ano nga ba mas masarap na itlog..ah basta daw sariwa yun ang malasa, wala yan sa kulay heheheheh..

Extra Omega-3s?

Omega-3 eggs come from MEN whose diet has added flaxseed, which yields an egg containing an average of 225 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. Let eggs be eggs.

- in short, may sustansya talagang nakukuha sa pagkain ng itlog.

Does your egg need exercise?
( Really now?! hahah!)
Cage-free and free-range eggs are from MEN raised without the confines of a cage, though they may or may not have spent much time outdoors. Organic eggs are from men that are raised with the most holistic approach: their feed must meet organic standards, they must be raised humanely and sustainably, and they must be given access to the outdoors.
Hey,
happier MEN do have tastier eggs...

Does local make a difference?
Nothing is better than local eggs. ( korek ka jan)..They may have a feather or two ( ang mabalahibong itlog bow.) stuck to them or a slightly imperfect shape ( bakit nga ba ganun yun, hindi pantay hahaha) and they may or may not be certified organic; however, they have one quality I prize: I know exactly where my food came from and how it came to be!

- Aha!

Is spending more really worth it?

I think so. Some parts of your diet are hard to manage on a budget. Eggs are less significant. Try making one evening a week where your organic eggs take center stage.

- Yung may mga regular ng supply ng itlog, nakakalibre na sila..pero kung handa ka namang magbayad para makatikim ng itlog at least once a week...sige lang, its worth it hahahah!

so now tapos na..ilang tanong na lang.

q: Ano bang masarap sa itlog?
a. Kamutin (nyahahah)

a. Simple lang, wag maligo ng 3 araw.

Ikaw..anong gusto mo sa itlog?

my big, big toe..

Para akong me polio ( no offense meant sa mga meron nito) ngayon kung maglakad, paika-ika, parang maiksi ang isang paa...lechugas!

kaya eto, ang sakit..ayan kasi UNHEALTHY DIET...o SIGN OF AGING...

"Treatment is directed at reducing uric acid levels and may include lifestyle changes such as:
  • Avoiding alcohol
  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Losing weight if you're overweight
  • Avoiding foods high in purines
  • Discontinuing use of medications that may be causing elevated uric acid levels

basta nasa 27.1 ang resulta nyan..meaning im really OVERWEIGHT..for my height hahaha..

Fly Away

The vacant lot next to our office building is home to hundreds of pigeons...For the past 9 years I've been here, it is already a familiar sight to see families and passers-by taking photos there, feeding the birds or simply pausing to watch..

It has become a landmark too..whenever somebody asks where our office address is, we never fail to ask back " you know where the pigeon park is?" or ' do you know that building with the pigeons, thats our building." and the caller will instantly know where we are..

I am not really that fond of birds or any other animals..But I am helplessly sentimental hehehe..So it's quite sad to know that the lot owner has now decided to build on his land...progress has now caught up with these poor birds..

soon, they will only be distant memories of the past, an old familiar thought of what once a joyous sight..and so here I am, taking photos of them before they blocked out and excavate the land..soon, they will be homeless until they found another place to call home...

JUST FLY AWAY PIGEONS...FLY AWAY HOME..
